Programme Highlights:

The Yuen Long South New Development Area (YLS NDA) is one of the key developments within the Northern Metropolis. Designed to address the territory’s medium to long-term housing demands, YLS NDA is set to provide substantial land supply through integrated planning and enhanced infrastructure.

Following the principle of infrastructure-led development, the captioned Contract focuses on the reconstruction of the Tong Yan San Tsuen Interchange. Particularly, this contract employed a Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) to construct a pedestrian cum cyclist subway beneath the heavily trafficked Yuen Long Highways (YLH), thereby eliminating the need for open excavation and disturbance to the road users. The application of RTBM technology in this project demonstrated significant advancements in tunnelling and engineering. This exclusive site visit will offer participants a valuable opportunity to observe the sophisticated RTBM excavation methods and innovative engineering practices implemented at the project site.

Reminder: 1) Attendees must bring their own PPE. (including safety shoe, reflective jacket, and safety helmet) hold a valid safety Green Card or HKIE Member Card. 2) Successful applicants who fail to show up on the event date without prior notice or acceptable reasons will be excluded from attending the Geotechnical Division technical visits for a period of three months.
