Programme Highlight
Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) is an innovative idea in the construction industry adopted for erection of bridges. It utilizes multiple axles and independent steering to allow high degree of versatility and precision for the operation. It could evenly distribute weight of the components even at challenging terrains such that the safety risk of the operation decreases significantly comparing to other traditional method. By adopting such efficient method, the time for TTA implementation, and thus public nuisance, could also be greatly reduced.
In this project, two 35m span bridges had been erected across the North Lantau Highway successfully by SPMT method in Q2 2025.
The technical visit will start with an introduction to the project and details of the nightwork for the installation of the existing Tai Ho Bridge. Participants will then proceed to the site and attend a session focused on sharing information about the project's operations and issues encountered.
