The Greater Bay Area Series presents a technical visit to the District Cooling System (DCS) in the Nansha International Exhibition Centre (International Financial Forum (IFF)). The DCS is a rapidly developing energy-efficient infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area, designed to enhance sustainability and reduce energy consumption. This facility operates under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model with a 30-year concession and has recently commenced operations. DCS plants #3 and #4 serve an expansive area of 1.7 million square meters, boasting a total capacity of 107.32 MW of refrigeration tonnage.
The visit will commence with an introduction by the project client, followed by a presentation from the design institute detailing the project's innovative features. Participants will gain insights into the construction challenges faced over the 36-month period, including the testing and commissioning of all DCS chillers and icing storage facilities. After the presentations, attendees will be guided on a tour of the plant buildings and a portion of the external network infrastructure. This visit will be led by Ir Victor KY Lo, who is the past Chairman of the HKIE Civil Division and a highly experienced engineer in the field of DCS in Hong Kong.
