Programme Highlights:

The Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project, also known as the “Xijiang River Diversion Project”, is one of the key strategic infrastructure projects in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. The project enhances regional water security by transferring water the western Pearl River Delta to support the sustainable development of cities across the eastern Pearl River Delta, including Shenzhen and Dongguan.

This two-day, one-night study tour will provide participants with valuable first-hand insights into the planning, construction, and operation of this newly completed large-scale water diversion system. Key facilities to be visited include the Liyuzhou Pumping Station in Foshan, the Gaoxinsha Reservoir in Nansha, and the Luotian Pumping Station and Gongming Reservoir in Shenzhen.

Participants will learn about the project’s “Investment–Design–Construction–Operation” (IDCO) procurement model, which integrates financial, technical, and operational management across the project lifecycle. They will also explore the adoption of intelligent monitoring and maintenance systems in modern hydraulic engineering.

Through on-site visits and interactions with project engineers and technical experts, this tour offers an exceptional opportunity to deepen understanding of China’s major water infrastructure development and its contribution to regional water sustainability and resilience.
