Programme Highlight

Contract No. ND/2019/04 – Fanling North New Development Area, Phase 1: Fanling Bypass Eastern Section (Shek Wu San Tsuen North to Lung Yeuk Tau) involves the construction of new roadworks, junction improvements, and associated infrastructures to enhance regional connectivity in the Northern Metropolis.

A key highlight of the project is the construction of a steel footbridge using high‑strength S960 steel, one of the first applications of this advanced material in Hong Kong’s public works. Compared with conventional steel grades, S960 enables slimmer structural sections, reduced material usage, and improved durability while meeting stringent design and safety requirements.

This technical visit will begin with a brief introduction of the project and follow by site walk to major activities on site.

• Participants must hold a valid Green Card and bring their own Personal Protective Equipment (including safety helmet, reflective vest, and safety shoes) for site access.
• Number of participants is limited to 25, on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to members of the HKIE Civil Division.
• Applicants who have already successfully registered to or participated in more than FIVE (5) visits organised by Civil Division in the session 2025-26 will be given lower priority during the process of registration.
