Site Visit – Tuen Mun South Extension Project (Contract No. 1500)

Organised by HKIE Civil Division and CIHT

Date and Time:

Date – 27 September 2025 (Saturday), 09:00am –12:00noon

Venue:

Tuen Mun

Programme Highlight:

The Tuen Mun South Extension is a “community railway” that will extend the Tuen Ma Line southward by approximately 2.4km from Tuen Mun Station via a viaduct. The alignment running along the east bank of the Tuen Mun River involves unique engineering challenges, particularly in constructing the viaduct over the river. Innovative construction methods and specialised plant equipment have been deployed to address these site constraints effectively.

This is a joint visit with the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT). The technical visit will start with an introduction to the project. Participants will then proceed to the site and attend a session focused on sharing information about the project's operations and issues involving the nearby railway operation, existing footbridges, and road traffic management.
