Programme Highlights
In response to the Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2030+ Report and to support the increased use of natural gas for power generation in Hong Kong, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) and The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd (HK Electric) have identified that the development of an offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Hong Kong using Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) technology presents a viable additional gas supply option that will provide energy security through access to competitive gas supplies from world markets.
One of the major scopes of the Project involves the construction and operation of one double berth jetty, which is located in the southern waters of Hong Kong to the east of Soko Islands, with mooring facilities for the FSRU vessel and LNG carriers. The jetty comprises 6 nos. mooring dolphins and 3 nos. breasting dolphins. The sub-structural works for each dolphin comprising the structural steel jacket structure and 1.83m diameter steel tubular piles. On-site installation work for the jackets and piles has been successfully completed in November 2021. The following work is to install the steel topsides, which contains extensive LNG related equipment and piping, above the installed steel jackets.
The fabrication of the steel topsides is now carrying out in the Zhuhai steel fabrication yard. This virtual site visit will introduce the whole fabrication process of steel topsides, i.e. from steel cutting, steel rolling till the assembly of steel panels and load out.
