Programme Highlight

Drainage Services Department is implementing the Inter-Reservoirs Transfer Scheme (IRTS) project comprising construction of a 2.8 km water tunnel from Kowloon Byewash Reservoir to Lower Shing Mun Reservoir and the associated intake and outfall structures. The IRTS serves dual purposes of improving flood protection level in West Kowloon areas and achieving water conservation by transferring collected surface runoff from the Kowloon group of reservoirs to the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir.

 

The Drainage Projects Division of DSD is the Project Manager, Black & Veatch Hong Kong Ltd. is the designer and the Supervisor, and Bouygues Travaux Publics is the Contractor of this NEC contract. The works commenced in February 2019 and will tentatively be completed by end of 2022.

 

This technical visit will begin with a brief introduction of the project and follow by site walk to major activities on site.
