Programme Highlight:

Reclamation is proven to be a successful and time efficient method to create land in Hong Kong. The first generation of satellite new town in Tsuen Wan, Shatin and the subsequent Tuen Mun and Tseung Kwan O new town are developed on reclamation. The reclamation method has been evolved over times to meet the upgrading standard in legal aspect, environmental protection standard, improved efficiency of machinery engineering design and technology. This seminar will present the evolution of reclamation method and their construction in Hong Kong.

The Speaker

Mr. Cheng Tak Sum is a senior construction manager in Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Construction Limited. He has over 50 years experience in reclamation and marine works construction. He was involved in West Kowloon Typhoon shelter reclamation, Ma Wan Reclamation, Tseung Kwan O reclamation and recently completed reclamation for Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link construction.
