Programme Highlights

Seismic wave propagation effect may cause to catastrophic damage to lives and properties. This seminar will introduce a methodology to perform seismic analysis of civil engineering works located in southeast Brazil. Definitions regarding the levels of seismic activity and the levels of maximum ground horizontal accelerations in rock as a function of epicentral distances and magnitudes will be conveyed in the seminar. The speaker will also present an application to offshore pipelines located in Marlim field at Campos basin. A probabilistic analysis of the seismic risk and local response analysis are conducted to verify the safety conditions of a particular configuration of this type of structures against seismic wave propagation effects.
