Blasting, by the use of explosives is a very effective and efficient method in rock excavation process. Using the fundamental concept of ‘Explosives’ and ‘Explosion’, the speaker willelaborate how explosion energy can properly be functioning in rock breakage mechanism for a desirable result in a safe manner. Risks and control of blasting effects of flyrock and ground vibrations, that impact to the surrounding environments will be discussed. Design criteria of the critical blast parameters in both surface bench cut and underground work will be given with illustration.
