Hong Kong west drainage tunnel comprises an 11 km long main tunnel to be built underground in Mid-levels extending from Tai Hang to Pokfulam, 34 numbers of intakes and about 8 km long adits. By adopting the tunnel intercepting approach, stormwater at upland can be intercepted by the tunnel and discharged at sea. The focus of this visit will be on the methodology, techniques and challenges of the blasting works at Eastern Portal.
