Date, time & venue
2009-01-15;;

Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges of our time. The latest earthquakes and snowstorms in the Mainland have emphatically demonstrated our growing vulnerability to climate change. The Division considers engineer should play a key role to design and build a sustainable living environment for our communities and has organised a "Conference on Engineers' Responses to Climate Change". The objectives of the Conference are to raise the awareness of the environmental practitioners on climate change problems, to assess the ecological and economic vulnerabilities to climate change, and to explore opportunities and strategies for tackling the problems. In particular, how should we, as engineers, to meet the change and challenges. Discussion topics would include wind/earthquake structures, flood protection and storm drains, coastal engineering and marine structure, water supply and preservation, earthwork and slope protection works, and effect of temperature change to facilities.
