The Government's long-term objective is to develop railway as the backbone of transportation in Hong Kong. The West Island Line Project is one of the major railway projects. The seminar aims to give a brief overview of the West Island Line Project, touching on a number of the key engineering challenges that this project will face during the construction phase, the contract strategy adopted, the overall programme and the benefits to the Central and Western District on completion of the project.
