HKIE Civil Cup competition 2010

Student Liaison Group

HKIE Civil Division The Student Liaison Group (SLG) continued its role to maintain a closer with students of local universities and other institutes of higher education. The Group held regular meetings with student representatives from the civil engineering societies from The Hong Kong University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University , Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) and Chuhai colleague  to create a platform for co-organizing activities and experience exchange.

One of these activities is the annual Civil Cup 2010. It is a friendly competition amongst students of the institutions and the Civil Division teams. From developing competition framework to detailed event planning for the soccer and basketball competitions, students from the Group worked together closely. Through the organizing of this event, students from different universities, institutions, and the Civil Committee got to know each other better and developed stronger relationships.

The Basketball Competition was held on 7 March 2010 in Institute of Vocational Education Tsing Yi Sports Centre.  The three pointer made by Institute of Vocational Education - Tsing Yi (IVE-TY) with five seconds to regulation was all the difference.  IVE-TY won the Championship by one point, and the first runner-up belongs to the Hong Kong University.  The second runner-up is the Civil Division team of HKIE.

With a first and third places for the soccer and basketball competition, respectively, HKIE Civil Division teams captured the overall championship of the Civil Cup once again, and extended the consecutive years of overall championship to three.
