Programme Highlights

Microsilica is beneficial throughout modern concrete construction.  Microsilica has had its place in construction for more than 30 years and much more than 100 million m3 microsilica concrete has been placed. The talk will give a brief basic background on microsilica, and how the benefits can be and have been used, for high performance, and more sustainable concrete construction. In addition, the talk discusses the sustainability of concrete as an important move to energy and resource saving.

 

 

Speaker:

Mr. Per Fidjestol, MSc, FACI is Technical Manager for Concrete in Elkem as Silicon Materials. He has 35 years of experience with high performance concrete and research work on microsilica. He is Fellow of ACI and Senior Member of Rilem. Mr. Fidjestol is also member of several materials committees in ASTM and represents Norway in CEN committees related to microsilica.
