Programme Highlight

Deep Cement Mixing (DCM) was introduced to Hong Kong as a ground improvement construction method in marine deposit for the reclamation of the third runway (3RS) of the Hong Kong International Airport. This method was chosen because it offers special environmental and geotechnical advantages and satisfying the fast track requirements. Recently, such construction method was also chosen for other reclamation projects in Hong Kong. According to the 2030+ visionary reclamation programme by Planning Department, some 1200Ha of land would be created much of which would be formed by ways of reclamation. And it is likely that DCM would be adopted given its outstanding advantages.

The seminar will discuss the methodology of DCM by Dong Ah Geological Engineering Co Ltd. who is a Korean Contractor involving with the 3RS and  with over 20 years of track record in the construction of DCM involving some sixteen millions cu. m,  of DCM clusters in south-east Asia.
